SAMSUNG E&A a total solutions provider for the global energy industry, successfully hosted the SAMSUNG E&A Tech Forum 2025, proving its status as a leading global energy technology company.
The SAMSUNG E&A Tech Forum 2025, a ‘venue for communication on future energy technology and innovative technologies’ was held at the GEC (Global Engineering Center) in Sangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul on the 20th June, with approximately 500 people from 140 companies including global partners in the energy sector and domestic Korean and international partners in attendance.
The event was attended by global clients, including Saudi Aramco, ExxonMobil, and Petronas, as well as prominent energy innovation companies such as Honeywell UOP, Johnson Matthey, Gidara, Nel, Carbon Clean, and Baker Hughes.
In order to fundamentally change its constitution in the era of energy transition, SAMSUNG E&A announced its vision of becoming an “engineering company that builds a better future with advanced technology” in 2023. Since then, SAMSUNG E&A has been spurring the establishment of a differentiated performance system based on innovative technologies and has begun full-scale preparations for the future, including technology development, investment, and partnerships in the energy transition field. In addition, following the change of company name last year, the company made achievements such as its first foray into the SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) sector, participation in the first eco-friendly plastic business in the Middle East, and acquisition of shares in the global hydrogen company Nel. As a leading energy tech company, the company is holding this forum for the second time since last year to promote its technological capabilities to customers and the market and to seek new opportunities.
Under the theme of "Weaving Technology Threads, Delivering Excellence", this forum contains presentations of technology solutions by experts in various fields, including energy transition, eco-friendliness, innovative technology, and finance, followed by panel discussions and seminars.
SAMSUNG E&A opened the SAMSUNG E&A Tech Forum 2025 with opening remarks by President and CEO Hong Namkoong and an announcement of the company’s future “Technology Roadmap” represented by E&Able and AHEAD. SAMSUNG E&A explained that it would continue its AHEAD strategy of “going far slowly” by further strengthening its EPC execution system based on innovative technologies such as DT (digital transformation), automation, and AI (artificial intelligence), and would unfold its E&Able strategy of “going far quickly” by rapidly securing core technologies in the energy transition and eco-friendliness fields and leading the market.
In the E&Able (Energy Transition and Eco-Friendly Field) session, Nel, in which SAMSUNG E&A recently acquired a stake, introduced its green hydrogen production solution, ‘Compass H2’, followed by an introduction of the status of technology solution development in the carbon capture field and the latest trends from global partners such as Honeywell UOP, Carbon Clean, and Svante, followed by a panel discussion.
Additionally, Johnson Matthey presented its outlook for the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) market and plans, and in the water treatment field, SAMSUNGF E&A introduced its water treatment circular economy model and the technology possessed by the Environmental Technology Center.
The AHEAD (Innovation Technology) session introduced SAMSUNG E&A's unique process-specific performance innovation model for design, procurement, and construction, and shared best practices and utilization strategies. In addition, successful project development strategies through cases of financial support from public export credit agencies (ECAs) and presentations on implementation cases of gas combined cycle power plants + carbon capture and storage (CCGT + CCS) were presented, and innovative technology solutions invested and developed by SAMSUNG E&A were also showcased in a separate exhibition space.
Hong Namkoong, President and CEO of SAMSUNG E&A said, “Through this forum, we had productive and substantive discussions not only on energy transition solutions such as carbon capture, green hydrogen, e-Fuel, and Waste to SAF, but also on EPC execution innovation that maximizes productivity and efficiency.” He added, “I hope that this forum will be the starting point for the creation of global collaborative projects that will lead the market by connecting technology to technology and companies to companies, leading to tomorrow’s innovations.”
